专有名词一般第一个字母要大写。专有名词前一般不加冠词。

不可数名词前不能加冠词 a  或 an  来表示量。

 以 s   x   c h   s h 结尾的词名词变复数时 要在词尾加 e s .

以 s 结尾，仍为单数的名词,数学、政治、物理等学科名词，为不可数名词，是单数。

 news 是不可数名词。

美国、联合国，应视为单数。    the United States

联合国是一九四五年组建起来的。    The United Nations was organized in nineteen forty-five  

 以复数形式出现的书名，剧名，报纸，杂志名，也可视为单数。

<<一千零一夜>>是一本非常有趣的故事书。   " The Arabian Nights " is a very interesting storybook  

还有一些名词，其复数形式有时可表示特别意思，

（各种）鱼    fishes  

当一个名词作定语说明另一个名词时，这个名词一般用单数。

一棵苹果树     an apple tree  

五个苹果树    five apple trees  

一个女孩的朋友   a girl friend    

两个女孩的朋友      two girl friends  

一个双胞胎妹妹    a twin sister

但是，当 man 和 woman 作定语修饰复数名词时，就要用其复数形式。

两个男教师     two men teachers
