一些不可数名词只有复数形式，但却表示单数概念，常见的有 news ( 消息 )  means ( 手段 ) 。

 众所周知，没有消息就是好消息。   As  we all know  no news is good news  

一些专有名词只有复数形式，但却表示单数概念，常见的有： the United States ( 美国 )  the United Nations ( 联合国 )  the United Kingdoms ( 英国 )  the Arabian Nights ( 《一千零一夜》 ) 。

 就我所知的而言，联合国成立于一九二五年。As far as I know the United Nations was set up in nineteen twenty-five  

一些表示庆祝、祝贺的名词只有复数形式，常见的有： celebrations ( 庆祝 )  congratulations ( 祝贺 ) 。

  so +形容词  / 副词 + that

 刘翔跑得那么快没有人能赶上他。  Liu Xiang runs so quickly that no one can catch up with him   

so +形容词  + a / an + 名词 + that

迈克是这么好的一个学生以至于每个老师都喜欢他。 Mike is so good a student that every teacher likes him   

 特别提示：so / too / how / this / that +形容词  + a / an + 名词 注意形容词和冠词的排列顺序。

 你不能有语言表达那个风光的美丽。 You can't express how beautiful a scene it is in word    

  他不是那么坏的一个学生。 He isn't that bad a student  

  such + a / an +形容词  + 名词 + that

 中国如此之大，用一个月时间你只能看到它很小的一部分。 China is such a large country that you can see only a little of it in one month    

 such +形容词  +不可数名词或复数名词+ that

 昨天天气如此好，我们去郊游了。 It was such lovely weather yesterday that we went outing    

我有许多这样的好书以至于我从中学到了很多东西。 I have many such good books that I have learned a lot from them  

 such 和不定冠词连用时，不定冠词必须放在 such 后。

 这样的一张桌子就够大了。 One such table is big enough   

  这里没有这样的一个人。There is no such a person here   

 当名词为不可数名词或复数名词时，前面只能用 such 不能用 so 。

许多这样的好书 many such good books

当名词前有表示数量的词： many  much  little  few 时，只能用 so 。

那么少的水  so little water 那么少的水

小女孩;一个小女孩， a little girl ，小男孩;一个小男孩， a little boy 为整体单词，不受此规定限制。另外， 那么多的;很多的so many ; so much 为固定搭配。
